Kissin’ Dynamite: Generation Goodbye – Dynamite Nights (AFM)
Hot on the heels of their absolutely fantastic 2016 studio album Generation Goodbye, German melodic hard rockers Kissin’ Dynamite is back with a new release, titled Generation Goodbye – Dynamite Nights. It’s the band’s first-ever live release, and they definitely got it right.
Filmed at the LKA Longhorn in Stuttgart, Germany last December, Generation Goodbye – Dynamite Nights showcases Kissin’ Dynamite at their very best. It’s a large club and the band had a very enthusiastic audience cheering them on. As you might expect, the 24-song set was heavy with material from Generation Goodbye, but they hit the highlights from their previous four albums as well. They sound amazing and seem to be having an absolute blast on stage, and that energy is infectious.
This video half of this set is very impressive. It appears to be shot in HD and they got multiple angles and plenty of shots of the crowd. The audio is crystal clear as well. The between-song banter is in German, but hey, it’s a German band in front of a German crowd. In addition to the DVD, this set comes with a pair of audio CDs with the full concert. There’s also a nice booklet with some great live photos.
Generation Goodbye – Dynamite Nights is very much in keeping with other recent live releases on the AFM label. They treat these live sets as special events, and for my money no other label can touch their overall quality and presentation. This set is a must-have for the die-hard Kissin’ Dynamite fans. And if you don’t know the band but dig the harder-edged melodic rock bands like Pretty Maids, Jorn, Eclipse and Treat, this makes a pretty powerful introduction.
Summary: This is what a live release should look (and sound) like
